The idea is to encapsulate periodical checking for deadlocks into a reusable component so we can just fire and forget about it. Since the old version is kept for compatibility purposes only, I am going to use the second version. The difference is that findDeadlockedThreads can also detect deadlocks caused by owner locks (), while findMonitorDeadlockedThreads can only detect monitor locks (i.e. The method of our interest is findMonitorDeadlockedThreads, or, if you are using Java 6, findDeadlockedThreads. I recommend you to check all of the methods as there are many useful operations for monitoring the performance of your application in case you are not using an external tool. Java 5 introduced ThreadMXBean - an interface that provides various monitoring methods for threads. Detect deadlocks programmatically using ThreadMXBean class Although some statical analysis libraries exist that can help us detect the possible deadlocks, it is still necessary to be able to detect them during runtime and get some information which can help us fix the issue or alert us so we can restart our application or whatever. The reason for this is it’s not practical to test all possible interleavings of a program’s threads. To make things worse, deadlocks usually manifest in production under the heaviest load, and are very hard to spot during testing. They can be very hard to detect during development, and they usually require restart of the application in order to recover. Deadlocks are situations in which two or more actions are waiting for the others to finish, making all actions in a blocked state forever.

I’ve always called it a Rail Fence block, but I guess the name “Rail Fence” is for blocks that have more than 3 stripes in them – so I guess my fence only has 3 rails in it – lol! Grandmother's Own The super easy Roman Stripe quilt block can be used by itself or as a component of lots of other blocks. The block traditionally is completely done with scraps but looks great with only two colors - just make sure you have a lot of contrast between the colors. Today let's piece together this scrappy version of the easy Broken Dishes quilt block. It's an easy block and uses up some of those pink or red scraps I know you have! Let's get started! Broken Dishes I thought I should share my favorite Heart Quilt Block. It uses only squares and modified flying geese units and sews up quick! I've made my block scrappy but it also looks great in a planned color scheme. This Domino quilt block is so easy to put together. I'll show some different color and layout options at the end. This beginner block is super easy with only three sizes of patches, no triangles, and lots of different looks depending on color placement. Let's take a look at the Patience Corners quilt block. This block finishes at 12″ square and looks good using one darker color for the focal diamond and scraps for the rest of the colored print patches. Today we’ll learn how to sew a Garden Path quilt block together. Made with only squares and rectangles it's a great way to use up those leftover 2.5" strips in a scrappy quilt! I have lots of layout ideas using two colors, three colors and lots of colors toward the end of the post. The Edna's Choice quilt block is so quick and easy to sew together to create a lovely quilt. I'm also including fabric requirements for 6", 8", 10" and 12" blocks! This block is easy and goes together fast. Here's another Valentine's Day quilt project - the Scrappy Heart quilt block. With only Half Square Triangles and squares, the block goes together quickly and has lots of layout options (several are toward the end of the tutorial). Today I dug into my scraps to bring you this tutorial for a beginner-friendly, scrappy block called Split Nine Patch. It is also a variation of what I call the Ohio Star block. This scrappy Keith's Star block is great for beginners because you can't lose your star points! It is a new and improved variation of a pattern I made a few years ago. So dig into your scrap stash and let's get to piecing the Scrappy Strips Heart! Keith's Star Here's an easy block to make for a Valentine's Day project - directions include fabric requirements for two sizes of block - 9" and 12". It is pretty easy to put together and is a great way to use up those scraps you've been saving! Additionally, I have an alternate method for completing this block that I'll show you at the end. Today let's look at this scrappy quilt block called Old Grey Goose. I’m not sure why it’s called a “four patch”, looks like a sixteen patch to me! I guess it could be 4 four patches in the middle. Here’s another quilt block to use up those skinny strips you’ve been saving! The Four Patch Log Cabin quilt block is easy to do and finishes at 10″ square. It is a bit easier because you can add 2 strips to the block center before having to press and square up the block. The Courthouse Steps quilt block is similar to sew as the Log Cabin block. This scrappy version of the Sunny Lanes quilt block is easy to sew together and creates great graphic interest in a quilt! Plus it uses of a ton of 2" squares. And if you can think of ways to improve this, please please please leave a comment and tell me how. Here are more than 40 of our most popular scrappy quilt block tutorials to help inspire you to create your next quilt! While most quilt blocks can be made scrappy, these look especially nice.īelow you will find a wide selection of scrappy quilt blocks - from easy to complex - in no particular order. The finished quilt includes 5" borders and measures 74 by 90 inches, so a twin size. There are a total of 80 blocks (40 blue, 40 yellow-green) arranged 8 by 10. You will need one jelly roll of white and one jelly roll of color (trust me I have done the math). G - Stitch together a white strip with a green strip and cut into 6.5" sections. So, it makes more sense to stitch first and cut later.Ī - Stitch together a white strip with a light blue strip and cut into 2.5" sections.ī & C - Stitch together a white strip with a dark blue strip and cut into 4.5" section (B) and 6.5" section (C)Į & F - Stitch together a white strip with a yellow strip and cut into 2.5" section (E) and 4.5" section (F). For example - B and C sub-blocks are varying lengths of white strip + dark blue strip. I divided the blocks into sub-blocks (A through H) to ease the construction process. I am going to make this using jelly roll strips, so all widths are 2.5" and the lengths are shown above. Even when not supervised, the environments at both locations were and are quiet and orderly - and does not resemble a Black Friday atmosphere. This sure seemed like a nice place to do laundry but I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you are high energy or have a pack of people with you. The place seemed clean but with all the chaos, I did not feel safe even to set my things down to look for a machine.I ended up driving to the location 18 miles away on Country Club, which had a wifi issue so I ended up at the location on Brown Road in Mesa. The bill readers were lit as out of quarters, but tokens were available for cash. Half the machines were marked as "out of order." The card reader was still unusable. I had to have cash for quarters or tokens, and I never carry cash.Today, I went on "Free Dry" day. The first time things were clean and machines were available but the card reader was not working. I have attempted to go to this location twice now. Also don't appreciate the random men who like to use this location to try to pick up women □ I was gone for 7 minutes and when I returned someone was taking my unwashed, soapy clothes out of a washer even tho there were plenty of unused ones available of the same size. Walked across the street to the gas station to use the ATM. There is no one on staff at the location, so if other people aren't following the rules there is nothing you can really do about it.Last time I went, the app wasn't working and no ATM. I like that I can pay for the machines with an app. This could be a really great laundromat if some care and effort was put into it!*****************************Best I've found in the area *so far*. You don't give refunds for any reason, but you can't afford to have an attendant there? Other laundromats charge less, have an attendant almost all the time *and* give refunds when machines eat money or just don't work. There are so many complaints about machines being broken, cleanliness issues, and that no one answers calls. I would also think, with how expensive it is, and you raising prices, you would have an attendant there, at least every day. So if you are really low on cash, take that into account.I also would like to address the owner as they have responded to my previous review (and everyone else's): I will not be calling the cops on anyone unless it's an emergency and I don't need your permission to do that. A load that is $13 to run will be $15 in your bank account until about a day later. Also, the app that i thought was so convenient holds more money than it needs to per load. I rewashed my items, but they were still stained to the point that I had to throw some items away. Nothing was new in that load and this is not my first time doing laundry (I literally do laundry for a living!), so this was not user error. All my white items were tinged orangish brown, and I don't own anything that color. I washed my clothes in one of the large washers and everything came out DIRTIER. Prices went up, but it's more filthy than it used to be, the machines are broken more often or they are disgusting. You need somewhere to do your laundry and you want to do it somewhere fast and easy go to clean laundry and its located on Southern n 16st plaza were safeway is at one thing about clean laundry is that they may be new here in the area but at the same time everything is brand new in there their washers and dryers their seats everything that they got in there is brand new it's a big place and they got low to medium prices which they're not like really expensive or really really cheap but they're on the usual and if you're ever in the area need somewhere to go wash go to clean laundry it's real clean place and it's usually fast there when you do your laundry because there's not a lot of people there waiting in a line and and being messy and dirty when you walk in they got people on site that are cleaning they got workers and then everybody's pushing out their laundry so fast that it doesn't get powered up and they got enough washers and dryers there to take care of a lot of people into place I've been to and they got good washers and dryers there if you're having the area look it up clean laundry I recommend it you have questions let me knowĮditing my review because this place has only gotten worse. The iridescence of structure colors is a problem for those who want to use these light-scattering structures in the real world, Blackledge said. That's pretty unusual for structural colors," Todd Blackledge, a biology professor at the University of Akron and one of the co-authors of the new study, told Live Science. "These blues have this low iridescence to them, so they're very consistent in their appearance as you look at them from different angles. That is, the spider's blue color doesn't seem to change when you look at it from different angles. However, the tarantula's structure color differs from those of birds and bugs in an important way - it isn't iridescent. Many species of birds and insects also get their colors from nanostructures, rather than the pigments that color the hair and skin of many animals (like humans). Structure colors like those of the blue-hued tarantulas are not uncommon in nature. Organized multilayered nanostructures were observed, which produced the bright blue reflection as seen under the microscope. "Previously only one kind of nanostructure had been recorded as producing blue color in tarantulas, but we found that there are other types."Ī critically endangered adult female gooty sapphire ornamental tarantula (P. "We discovered not just one kind of nanostructure but at least two or three different kinds of nanostructures that produce the same blue colors," Hsiung said. They examined the creatures' light-scattering photonic nanostructures, or "structure colors," using high-powered microscopes. The researchers obtained eight blue tarantulas that are indigenous to distinct geographic locations, including Singapore, India, Chile and Brazil. Maybe blue is a good trade-off - different enough from the background to be seen, but not too bright."Īfter sorting dozens of tarantula images, Hsiung and his colleagues decided to get their hands on a few live specimens. "And being too bright in an environment is not a good thing. "If they were green, and the predators and prey in their environments evolved to see green and are very sensitive to the green spectrum, then the would appear very bright," Hsiung said. They often live on the floor of rainforests and other heavily vegetated areas, where the light spectra consist mostly of green colors, Hsiung said. This preference for blue could be a result of the tarantula's typical habitat. Blue-reflecting nanostructures, on the other hand, evolved independently at least eight times in different species, the researchers found. Yet green, in particular, is not this critter's color of choice. Ecological studies of tarantula behavior will need to be conducted to confirm that hypothesis, he added.īut why blue, specifically? If a tarantula can use its nanostructures to appear blue, then presumably it could also use similar nanostructures to appear to be a different color - like yellow or green, the scientists said. I think this wavelength was selected specifically for communicating with potential predators or prey - though we don't know that," Hsiung told Live Science. Web Real-Time Communications (WebRTC) is an advanced open-source technology that allows desktops and mobile browsers to exchange data in real time by using simple APIs. WebRTC serves a plethora of purposes including enabling audio, video and network capabilities over mobile or web-based applications. WebRTC has functions similar to Media Capture and Streams API. All three can be combined for amazing multimedia capabilities never seen before on the web. DataChannels: Enables transfer of non-media directly between browsers.GetUserMedia: As the name suggests, it gives access to a user's media (e.g camera and microphone).PeerConnection: This allows you to send and receive multimedia files. The key advantage of WebRTC is that it enables real-time peer-to-peer multimedia communications which is indispensable in today’s digital media age. WebRTC is currently supported on the following browsers: Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Chrome and Google Chrome. The Flip SideĪ major downside to WebTRC is that users’ privacy may be vulnerable due to leaking of their IP address by the VPNs they use. Uncovered in 2015 by Paolo Stagno and tagged the “WebTRC Leak,” several users’ privacy was compromised when some well-known VPN providers started leaking the IP addresses of users to websites without their consent. What’s worse, a recent survey states that an astonishing 23% of VPN providers are leaking the IP addresses of users as well as retaining personal information like device type, personal details, websites visited, and even payment information. The test result on this page will tell you whether your browser is affected by this vulnerability. Today, digital inverter compressors are the main technology used in Samsung’s signature refrigerators, including those that are part of the Chef Collection, the T9000, as well as food showcases and large-capacity premium refrigerators.Īre all refrigerator compressors the same?Ībsolutely! The location of the compressor is also important. Depending on the type of refrigerator, some are located at the top of the appliance and some are located towards the bottom. Which compressor is used in Samsung refrigerator? Two good rules of thumb to keep in mind are that if repairing your fridge costs less than half the price of buying a new one, it’s generally worth making those repairs. Is it worth repairing a Samsung refrigerator? The Copeland Discus compressor saves energy and money because it is the most energy-efficient semi- hermetic compressor available for your refrigeration needs. What is the most efficient refrigeration compressor? The rotary vane mechanism is simpler, more durable, and more efficient than reciprocating compressors (also called “piston compressors”), and the result is a better machine one with more uptime, better energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness, higher air quality, and a longer lifespan. Inverter compressor is best for refrigerators as compared to the normal compressor. So, if the sound stops for good, or if the sound goes from faint to a constant or very loud humming noise that does not shut off, it may be a sign the compressor is broken or malfunctioning. Your refrigerator compressor is responsible for that humming sound. How do I know if my fridge compressor is broken? As it ages, efficiency loss is gradual at first. What is the lifespan of a refrigerator compressor?Īlthough plans for a replacement should start around eight years of service, a well-maintained compressor can reach to ten years and beyond. Too little refrigerant is most likely caused by an insufficient charge from the last technician, or from a refrigerant leak. In the event that the amount of refrigerant in the system is not perfect, it could create too much pressure or strain and lead to compressor failure. What causes a refrigerator compressor to fail? So, basically, you can spend a little more and buy a brand new refrigerator equipped with a new compressor. A new compressor will cost half of the total cost of a refrigerator. Well, if the refrigerator has turned more than 10-15 years, there is no point of investing money on the repairing. Replacing a refrigerator compressor entails removing the Freon carefully so that it will not escape, then using a blow torch to remove the faulty compressor. While yes, you can certainly repair a damaged compressor, it may not be worth it. With labor fees, the cost to replace a compressor is between R250 and R650. Fridge Compressors For Sale In South Africaĭepending on the type of fridge, new compressor prices range from R100 to R500. It’s similar to when you are pumping air into a bicycle tube – you can sense a heat increase in the pump while you compress the air. It circulates the refrigerant throughout the system and adds pressure to the warm part of the circuit, and makes the refrigerant hot. The compressor is the “heart” of a refrigerator. Fridge Compressors For Sale In South Africa While troubleshooting the issues I had with running the software on Catalina, I installed the server software on a clean install of Mac OS 10.11.6. I have read accounts of people getting the server software to work on system software versions up to 10.14, but I have not made any attempts at doing so. I am still running Billings Pro Server Admin on the last version of Mac OS that Marketcircle supported, 10.11.6. If it were, you wouldn’t need to do these workarounds in the first place. The self-hosted server software is no longer updated or supported. You probably shouldn’t do this, and I’m not responsible if you corrupt your accounting data, your server gets hacked, your computer catches on fire, or your cat runs away as a result of replicating these steps in your own environment. I do not currently want to migrate to the cloud-hosted version of the application, and this post documents the workarounds I found necessary to keep the client software functioning with the self-hosted server on macOS Catalina.ĭisclaimer: This is not intended as a guide. Marketcircle no longer supports the self-hosted version. When I bought the software I opted for the self-hosted one-time license rather than the cloud-hosted subscription, and many, many years later, I am still capitalizing on that investment. I have been using Billings Pro by Marketcircle for, lets just say, a long time. I am not sure if it is still necessary to have the server certificate generated prior to Jas described in The Server section. This month I got a new desktop computer and learned that when you start with client version 1.7.14 you don’t need any of the server certificate hackery listed under The Clients below. After I did all the work below, I realized that there was still an issue loading invoices and that client version 1.7.14 was needed to resolve that. When I wrote this post, I was focused on solving the issue of the then-shipping version of the Billings Pro client connecting to the server on a new computer. This solution is sketchy at best and may wreck your data. It opens the Apple Mail app but doesn’t create a new message or attach the invoice. The only issue that I have noticed so far is that you cannot email invoices directly from Billings Pro. Move the Contents/Frameworks/amework bundle from the 1.7.18 package to the 1.7.14 package, replacing the existing. Control-click it and Show Package Contents. Launch it once to make sure the extended attribute is unset. At this point it is abundantly clear that the self-hosted version of this software is on borrowed time, but I found a workaround:ĭownload the latest version of the app (currently 1.7.18). After updating to Apple’s newest operating system, Billings Pro 1.7.14 crashes on launch with a segmentation fault. The free version is fully functional but has no Tech Support.
It’s daring to say something like, “We need to change the way we communicate to consumers” and then be silent. If we intend to challenge someone’s mental model, we need to give the brain of that person time to think, reflect and, in most cases, defend. Speaking succinctly and in concrete terms is critical in these conversations as the brain of the other person might become defensive and that reduces the ability to process information.Įvery individual creates his or her own mental models of how they see the world. Once you are done preparing your thoughts in writing, distill them down to the essence, so that you have one-liners.
